Notes

The Ökrös Ensemble is the leading folk revival band in Hungary. Performing on traditional instruments, including violins, violas and acoustic bass, Ökrös sustains the village music legacy of Hungary and Transylvania. Born in 1922 Fodor Sándor, or "Neti" is widely considered the last great Gypsy violinists of the Kalotaszeg region of Transylvania, a master of traditional folk styles learned firsthand, and of the Gypsy string band tradition. With the stunning vocals of Ági Szalóki on three tracks, this is a definitive collection. As Gypsy music has become a world phenomenon, there is no better or more breathtaking combination than Ökrös and Neti.
